a) Define 'single camera production':
Single Camera productions are the film or television production that has a majority of scenes shot with only one camera set, this is used so that they can control the way the scene comes out and be able to move the camera quickly because of the use of only one camera.
b) Identify the advantages and disadvantages of single camera production (refer to examples where you can):
Advantages:
It is cheaper to shoot the scenes as you only need one camera and one cameraman to operate it.
It is cheaper to control the lighting and mood of a scene as you only need to cater the lights for one point of view and these can be changed as it moves.
With one camera you can make shooting in small sites easier as you don't have to accommodate for keeping the other camera out of sight, giving them more space to shoot.
|
Disadvantages
It takes more time to shoot certain scenes as having only one camera makes taking and getting more takes and shots harder, also it becomes slower and makes the time they can use shorter as the time for a perfect shot disappears.
you can't get as much view of the space in the set as the camera can only get one sight of the set and can't give the other perspectives that change it.
you need multiple takes and shots to get the take you need for the shot that you want which will take time and longer than you have.

List 3 examples of multi-camera shows (aim for different genres)

4) What is the definition of genre? Why is this important for audiences?
genre is the terms with which film and television shows are categorised by the iconography and mood that the moving pictures give. the term genre makes the film or television show become more digestible as the public can now understand what this piece of art is as it becomes clearly defined as something recognisable but with its own elements, moods and ideas.
